The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has taken a bold step toward internal accountability by publicly listing 26 of its lawmakers who failed to submit their mandatory property details. Despite repeated notices and reminders from the parliamentary party office, these representatives have yet to disclose their financial assets for the fiscal year 2082-83. This move underscores the party’s attempt to uphold the transparency standards it promised voters during its rise to prominence.
The list of non-compliant members includes several figures from the Morang district. Specifically, the party identified Yagyamani Neupane from Morang 1, Krishnakumar Karki from Morang 2, Santosh Rajbanshi from Morang 4, Asha Jha from Morang 5, and Rubina Acharya from Morang 6 as those who missed the filing deadline. In contrast, Ganesh Karki, the representative for Morang 3, was noted for having successfully fulfilled his reporting obligations.
By making these names public, the RSP is signaling that its members must be held to a high ethical standard regarding financial integrity. The disclosure serves as a formal reprimand for the 26 lawmakers involved, highlighting the internal friction as the party strives to ensure its representatives adhere to the legal and procedural requirements of their office. For a party built on the platform of systemic reform, this public transparency remains a critical, if difficult, internal hurdle.
