Internal friction within the Nepali Congress in Sarlahi has reached a breaking point as two prominent leaders have officially resigned from their positions. The move follows serious allegations of irregularities and fraud concerning the distribution of the party’s active memberships, a critical component of the party’s internal organizational strength.

Saroj Kumar, the Acting President of the Sarlahi District Executive Committee, submitted his resignation letter directly to the Nepali Congress central office. In a significant blow to the local leadership, Kumar announced that he is stepping down not only from his role as Acting President but also terminating his general membership with the party entirely.

The primary grievance stems from the membership distribution process in Sarlahi Constituency No. 2. Kumar has publicly accused the party of abandoning its core democratic values and established protocols. He argued that the recent handling of active memberships ignored the foundational principles laid down by the party’s pioneering leaders. This high-profile exit highlights a deepening crisis within the district’s political landscape as members demand greater transparency and adherence to democratic norms.
