Nepal’s energy sector has achieved a significant milestone, with electricity exports surpassing 5 billion NPR in the month of Bhadra alone. According to the latest data from the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), the total value of power sold to neighboring markets reached approximately 5.09 billion NPR, reflecting a robust period for the country’s hydropower industry.

During this timeframe, Nepal successfully exported a total of 565,606,443 units of electricity. These energy supplies were directed toward India and Bangladesh, showcasing the expanding reach of Nepal’s power grid beyond its domestic borders. This surge in exports is a direct result of increased production capacity and improved cross-border transmission infrastructure.

The revenue generated from these international sales is expected to provide a substantial boost to the national economy and help manage the country’s trade deficit. As Nepal continues to develop its vast water resources, the NEA remains focused on maximizing surplus energy sales during the peak production months, solidifying the nation’s role as a key energy player in South Asia.
