The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) is making significant strides as it prepares for the upcoming Nepal Premier League (NPL). Secretary Paras Khadka recently provided key updates regarding the tournament’s technical standards and its standing within the international cricket community. In a major move to ensure fairness and professional standards, the NPL will feature the testing of the Decision Review System (DRS) technology for the first time, marking a milestone for domestic cricket in the country.
Beyond the introduction of advanced technology, the league is also on the verge of receiving formal recognition from the International Cricket Council (ICC). According to Khadka, the approval process is currently in its final stages, which will solidify the NPL’s status on the global cricket calendar. This official backing is expected to further enhance the league’s credibility and attract wider international interest.
The excitement surrounding the tournament is bolstered by the confirmed participation of several high-profile international star players, ensuring a competitive edge and global viewership. Khadka also emphasized that broadcasting arrangements and other logistical preparations are being finalized to provide fans with a world-class viewing experience. With these developments, the NPL is positioning itself as a premier sporting event in the region.
